This 12 by 16 inch oil painting depicts one of the quiet moments in a hummingbird's life. They often stop and rest on a twig to simply observe and catch their breath. The pink petunia makes for good company.
My style is to paint with a combination of fine detail and free brush strokes. I use naturally bright colors to capture the life and energy I see in these magical creatures.
The canvas is mounted on adhesive art board to give the entire picture a thin profile (approximately 1 inch deep) for easy and nearly flush mounting on your wall. The frame is solid wood and made in the USA. The frame is pre-wired for immediate hanging. The overall construction makes for a relatively light and easy to handle piece of art which would have an instant impact in any room of your home.
Because the brushstrokes are made to convey free feelings, I do not use varnish. Varnish can add unwanted glare and reflectivity.
